The phenomenon known as Sublime,
arguably the most energetic,
original and uniquely eclectic band
to emerge from any scene, anywhere,
ended with the death of lead singer,
guitarist and songwriter Brad Nowell
in May of 1996. But encompassing
the sense of place and purpose long
associated with Sublime’s music,
Badfish, a Tribute to Sublime
seem to be channeling the spirit of
their predecessors with a fury not
felt for some time. What separates
Badfish from other tribute
bands is that they have replicated
Sublime’s essence, developing a
scene and dedicated following most
commonly reserved for label-driven,
mainstream acts.
Formed in the spring of 2001,
Badfish played their first show
to a sold out crowd at the Ocean
Mist on the shores of Matunuck,
Rhode Island. It seemed a fluke at
first—500 people driving an average
of an hour to a club in the middle
of nowhere, to see a band no one had
seen before, playing a show promoted
only by a single sidebar in the Providence Phoenix. Once the
members of Badfish took the stage
and performed, everyone knew why
they had felt compelled to drive to
Matunuck that night – Sublime
had basically been reborn.
Badfish
make their mark on the audience by
playing with the spirit of
Sublime – they perform not as
Sublime would have, or did – they
perform as Badfish does. The
attitude of Sublime cannot be faked,
so Badfish doesn’t try –
they’ve got their own and its one
that works. What hits you the most
is the heart that these three
musicians pour into their show.
They are technically skilled
players, sound just like Sublime,
and some say the live show is the
most fun they’ve ever had attending
one. But the point is that its
genuine – Badfish
does
Sublime their way, the only
way they know how.
Fans keep returning to see
Badfish, showing up two or three
hours before the opener goes on,
just to claim a spot near the front,
and the band has a traveling fan
base that will get any club
pumping. Badfish will keep a
crowd of 80 people, or 800,
positively moving for two and
a half hours.
“Every now and then a band comes to
town that is not worth missing out
on…or should I say the music they
are covering is not worth missing
out on…the band is Badfish and if
you like 90's ska-rock heroes
Sublime, I would suggest going and
checking these guys out.”—Glide

Scotty Don't. An idea conceived
by the veteran rockers of a
group widely known as Badfish: a
Tribute to Sublime. Scotty Don't
is more than a band, it's a
concept derived from years of
touring and stewing creativity
that has finally been wrangled
into one place. The members of
this group are loaded with road
tested form and skill, and are
whole-heartedly ready to launch
the next generation of music
fueled by blood, soul, and an
intensity that is truely, in all
senses of the word, original.
Scotty Don't is a no-frills,
take it or leave it musical
concept being put out for those
whom are ready, willing, and
able to open their ears. Whether
you're a rolling stone, a crazy
fool, a freebird, a soul to
squeeze, a voodoo chile, a
NineInchNail, part of a bad
religion, or alone standing on a
stairway to heaven, come as you
are and experience the
harmonized collective madness...
the psyco-melodic chemistry that
is...... Scotty Don't. See you
at the show.

The members of PROJECT/OBJECT feel that Frank Zappa is one of the 20th Century's greatest and most important composers, and they are on a mission to bring his music to the masses by faithfully recreating the live Zappa experience. PROJECT/OBJECT formed in the early '90s as an offshoot from an annual Frank Zappa birthday celebration that took place in guitarist Andre Cholmondeley's basement in New Jersey. As the event grew in size and popularity, PROJECT/OBJECT decided to take their show on the road, performing Zappa's music in more cities and larger venues, with a growing set list from every era of Zappa's 30-year recording career. The band strives to stay true to Frank's vision of constantly challenging the musicians and the audiences.
During Zappa's 1984 and 1988 tours, members of PROJECT/OBJECT became friendly with Ike Willis, the legendary 10-plus year Zappa vocalist and guitarist whose career with Frank began in the role of "Joe" on the quintessential Zappa album, Joe's Garage. In 1995, the members of PROJECT/OBJECT sent a tape of a live show to Ike and he was impressed enough that he agreed to come out to the East Coast to join the band onstage for a few gigs in the New York area. After that tremendous first outing, Ike agreed to repeat this experience in the future.
Ike felt the members of PROJECT/OBJECT were able to recreate the fun and excitement that he felt with Frank Zappa on stage. Many other Zappa alumni feel the same way, which has also inspired them to perform with the band, some for entire tours. Napoleon Murphy Brock has now joined the band on two national tours and in Winter 2003, Don Preston will go out for his first tour with the band. Since 1998, when the band first took their act on the road, the following alumni have performed with the band: Willis, Napoleon Murphy Brock, Jimmy Carl Black, Ray White, Don Preston, Bunk Gardner, Denny Walley, Mike Keneally, Arthur Barrow, Roy Estrada, Billy Mundi and even Al Malkin. Other notable artists they've collaborated with include Phish drummer Jon Fishman, Capt. Beefheart guitarist Gary Lucas, New York City big band leader and "Zappologist" Ed Palermo, Al Schnier, Chuck Garvey and Jim Loughlin of moe., and Dweezil Zappa drummer Jerry Cucurullo.
Frank Zappa was extremely influential to many musicians and bands, especially many jambands, including Phish, moe., and Deep Banana Blackout. While many jamband fans are aware that Frank Zappa was influential, they are largely unfamiliar with his music. Of those who are familiar, many were too young to have seen him in concert. PROJECT/OBJECT is the closest they will get to the live Zappa experience, and the band has been enjoying increasing support from this growing scene.
In every new market they visit, PROJECT/OBJECT converts the curious into dedicated fans. They want to remind old Zappa fans of the way it used to be and let younger fans, who never experienced a Zappa show, see and hear the way it was.

With influences
such as Jimi Hendrix and Cream, it's no
wonder Foster McGinty and his
funk/rock vision earn the title of "power
trio." The music is a raw combination of
colorfull riffs draped over funky grooves
that entices a closet dancer to the floor.
Lyrically, Foster has been described as Jimi
Hendrix meets Woody Guthrie. He draws on
everyday emotions and presents them through
thought-provoking stories, told with
illustrative words.
Live shows are as compelling visually as
they are musically--the energy shared on
stage with drummer David Butler and bassist
Seth Myers seems to project with the same
intensity as the music. All three musicians
share, smiles, laughs, and admiration as
they take things to higher levels. Their
jams display chemistry, musical capacity and
diversity.
"For those who like Cream, Jimi Hendrix and
the Experience and other bands under the
"power trio" label, "State of Mind Music
Box" is exactly what you're looking for. For
those who enjoy blues and its great
guitarists, Foster McGinty burns up the
guitar in a style favorable to that of a
Robert Johnson or a T. Bone Walker."

Eccentric rock virtuoso Mike Keneally plays guitar and keyboards, sings and composes and produces and does a lot of other things, all of which are fascinating to listen to and nearly impossible to describe.
Largely self-taught, Mike played "stunt guitar" and keyboards in Frank Zappa's last touring band and has appeared on a bunch of Zappa albums, has recorded or performed with XTC, Robert Fripp, Sting, Kevin Gilbert, Steve Vai, The Loud Family, Henry Kaiser, Michael Manring, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Andy Prieboy, The Persuasions and scads of others, and has been producing solo works since the early '90s.
"Dancing," an ambitious work released in late 2000 by Keneally and his eight-piece band, Beer For Dolphins, debuted at Number 167 on The Billboard 200 chart, Number 11 on the magazine's Independent Albums chart and Number 11 on its Heatseekers list. Critics hailed it as one of the year's best albums.
Mike's 1999 solo album, "Nonkertompf," prompted these comments by David Fricke in Rolling Stone magazine: "I saw guitarist Mike Keneally play with Frank Zappa in the 1980s, nimbly negotiating the maestro's knotty charts, and I've watched Keneally cook hard with his twisted-fusion outfit, Beer For Dolphins. But none of it prepared me for the color and density of 'Nonkertompf,' a whirl of thirty-five instrumental miniatures, played by Keneally in their entirety and advertising not only his spicy fluency on the guitar but a flair for hot melodic sabotage rooted, yet not imprisoned, in Zappology. The music flies mad and fast, but what the hell? You have a whole century to digest it."
Keneally's other releases include 1992's "hat.", 1994's "Boil That Dust Speck," 1996's "Half Alive In Hollywood" and 1997's "Sluggo!". 1995 brought the left-field classic "The Mistakes," which found Keneally teamed with Henry Kaiser, Andy West and Prairie Prince to scintillating effect. A number of things involving Keneally have been nominated for Grammies, and some of them have won. His music invokes such rabid fan response that a group of Keneally enthusiasts from around the world joined together in San Diego during the summer of 2000 to present "Nonkerstock," their own fan-produced-and-promoted tribute to all things Keneally, culminating in a performance by Mike and BFD.
About Keneally and Beer For Dolphins, Matt Resnicoff wrote in Time Out New York: "This band, with such a peculiar genius leading it, is a thing to savor."

Milo Z
is a dynamic funk band with can't help
it-shake-your-body dance grooves and
slow dance smooth sole. The music is for

aspects. Their array of catchy songs,

massive impression gaining cult
followings throughout the east coast and
parts of Europe.

and Steven Tyler, Milo dances and struts
connecting his attitude to his
audiences.
